Selected artists receive:

• A set of 24 color pastels

• $250.00 stipend

 

Deadline to enter: (Extended deadline) April 8, 2026 (Artists will be notified by April 15, 2026, if selected)
When: Saturday, May 23, 9:00am – 3:30pm (This is a rain or shine event)
Artist Setup: Saturday, May 23, 7:30am – 9:00am
Closing Celebration & People’s Choice Award: 3:00pm
People’s Choice Award: $500.00
Please note: All art spaces are made of cement.

ARTIST GUIDELINES

1. Interested artists should submit a sketch/image and brief description of their proposed chalk drawing. Please submit one image of the art you wish to create along with a brief description and two to three images of your prior artwork in any medium.

2. Artists must produce the artwork submitted or get written approval to change their design. 

3. Artwork for the festival is for public viewing. No inappropriate words, symbols, logos, or advertising within the chalk drawing.

4. Selected artists must be at least 18 years old.

EVENT GUIDELINES

1. Each selected artist’s space size is 4' x 6'.

2. The Ducktown Madonnari Chalk Art Festival provides (1) set of 24 soft pastels for each selected artist. (Artists are responsible for supplying any additional chalk and colors needed for design, for example: any predominant colors, etc.)

3. Only non-oil-based soft chalk/pastels in a solid form may be used for creating your design.

4. No acrylic paints, spray can pastels, oil-based pastels, or hard pastels, liquid chalk, or tempera paint (even for bases) will be permitted.  All art will be created on bare pavement, using dry chalk and pastels.

5. Weighted canopies or tents, no larger than 10' x 10', permitted.

6. Continental breakfast and lunch provided for selected artists only.

7. Artists may begin to work on their chalk designs by 7:30am and need to finish by 3:00pm on the day of the festival. 

8. All artists are invited to attend the Closing Celebration and People’s Choice award.

 

No registration is necessary for Youth and Community Art Zone participants.
