African American Heritage Museum of Atlantic City
Step into the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey and explore the rich history, culture, and art of African Americans in South Jersey and beyond. Founded by Ralph E. Hunter, Sr., the museum grew from his personal collection of cultural treasures, some discovered in surprising places. What started as a private “apartment museum” became a public space in 2002, and today AAHMSNJ continues to educate, inspire, and spark conversations about the African American experience.
Visitors can explore permanent exhibits like “Stereotypes,” which examines the impact of negative imagery over generations, as well as rotating exhibitions featuring local and regional artists. The museum also showcases paintings, ceramics, advertising memorabilia, and more, some thought-provoking, some celebratory, all meaningful.
